I’m High Faluter’s publisher – occasional writer, student and artist. I love the transcendentalists (Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson, in particular), and dig Malcolm X and George Carlin for their rigidity and flexibility later in life. I’m originally from Grand Blanc, Michigan and now live in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. My first foray into writing was as an editorialist for my high school newspaper, where I was allowed to write a review of Outkast’s “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below” during class time and take the school administration to task for its annual showing and praise of the film “Rudy.”

I draw inspiration from individuals and entities that are driven by the pursuit of independence – from frivolous things, false institutions and the people that prop them up. And no doubt, academia and education are ripe for these things. I’m a devout utilitarian and see journalism as the ultimate equalizer.
